Asthma is a chronic, potentially fatal inflammatory disease of the respiratory system. Nearly one-third of people with asthma are children. According to the American Lung Association, asthma is the number one cause of hospitalization among children, the number one chronic health condition among children, and the leading cause of school absenteeism.
According to the Canadian Lung Association, the inhalation of pesticides can cause an immediate negative physical reaction in some people, such as an asthma attack. For this reason the Association recommends avoiding the use of pesticides.
