Land and Water

Responsible use of our land and water resources are of paramount importance to future generations.

SPEC's concerns with land and water conservation have focused primarily on pollution of our land and waterways, pesticide use, deforestation and growing urban greenspace.

Pollution of Our Land and Waterways

  • SPEC's first project, undertaken in 1969 monitored pollution dumping in the Burrard Inlet
  • SPEC has been a strong voice against chemical pesticide use for over 30 years.
  • SPEC successfully fought to protect our North Shore Watersheds from logging in the 1980s.
