Since 1984 the Institute has been conducting biophysical inventories, offering environmental education programs and creating more natural habitat. Their activities involve students of all ages and community volunteers.
Their most popular project is Green Links, which aims to connect isolated patches of green space. This helps to improve biodiversity throughout Greater Vancouver by creating larger breeding populations and more robust food webs. Since 1996 community members have planted over 40,000 trees, shrubs and flowers.
